Orchestra Nova Introduces "the Bach Boys"

Orchestra Nova San Diego, under the leadership of Jung-Ho Pak, kicks off 2010 with a very unusual concert featuring the works of “the Bach boys,” Johann Sebastian Bach and four of his gifted children. The orchestra will perform the works with an early music approach for an evening of extraordinarily beautiful music of the Baroque and early Classical periods.

In addition to J.S. Bach’s famous Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 and Air on a G String, the orchestra will perform works by his sons Johann Christoph Friederich Bach, Johann Christian Bach, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach and Wilhelm Friedemann Bach that demonstrate how the father’s extraordinary gifts were transferred to his progeny as they, too, broke new ground in the world of music. The orchestra will also take a lighthearted look at one of his infamous (and fabricated) sons PDQ Bach.

Always focused on making classical music enjoyable and entertaining for everyone, Maestro Pak and the orchestra’s musicians will connect with the audience in many unique ways before, during and after the concert. Guests at the Irwin Jacobs Qualcomm hall will be treated to an Encore Q&A session.

Orchestra Nova San Diego is “on a roll” as it ended 2009 with all three Masterpiece Messiah concerts sold out and preparations are underway for the world’s first classical talent competition The Next Star that will include Internet and audience voting to determine the winner in March.
