Orchestra Nova Announces Semi-finalists for The Next Star Talent Competition

Orchestra Nova announces nine semi-finalists for The Next Star talent competition, the world’s first talent competition for classical musicians with voting by Internet and concert audience members. Representing all walks of life, the semi-finalists include a systems engineer, an administrative assistant, young students and college students, all of whom have a dream of becoming a professional classical musician.

Voters can view a video of the semi-finalists and vote for their favorite on the orchestra’s web site, www.orchestranova.org until January 30 when the voting for semi-finalists closes. The semi-finalists will perform their audition selection for an Orchestra Nova panel on January 31.

Three finalists will be posted on the web site on February 1 and online voting will commence again, this time for a finalist. The three finalists will perform with the orchestra in three concerts (March 5, 6 and 8, 2010) where audience members will be the final judges.

The concert will begin with Mozart’s The Impresario Overture and will end with Schubert’s Symphony No. 5. The three finalists will perform their selections with the orchestra before the intermission.

The concerts:
Friday, March 5, 7:30 p.m. – Downtown, St. Paul’s Cathedral
