San Diego Chamber Orchestra Announces Winnie Briney as Executive Director

The San Diego Chamber Orchestra has announced Winnie Briney as Executive Director. Winnie had been serving as the Director of Marketing for the Orchestra since July, 2005, and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Orchestra prior to taking the marketing role.

Winnie launched her business career at IBM in 1967 in New York City, where she progressed through multiple customer-facing roles in the North American sales organization. She later concentrated on PC and Channel Marketing in a variety of executive positions, including Vice President of Marketing and Vice President of Market Support for IBM’s Personal Systems.

Winnie joined Digital Equipment Corporation (now Hewlett Packard) in Marlborough MA and contributed in several executive roles — Vice President of PC Marketing, Vice President of Product Line Development for the mobile product line and Vice President of Worldwide Technical Support Programs.

After moving to San Diego from the east coast, Winnie led startup WebTradeInsure, Inc. through the development and launch of web-based insurance offerings for online auction purchases. She later served as president of “Motivating the Teen Spirit," a life-changing teen self-development company.

"Winnie’s success as a business woman and her love for music was a combination that we felt made her a perfect fit for the San Diego Chamber Orchestra, and we feel extremely fortunate to have her on our team," stated Gay Hugo-Martinez, President of the San Diego Chamber Orchestra Board of Directors.

Winnie received her BA in philosophy from Manhattanville College. Today, she serves as a trustee of the college.
