Orchestra Kicks Off Silver Anniversary Season with Biotech Night

Three Generations of Mozart Musical Genius – Nature or Nurture?

Celebrating its 25th Silver Anniversary, the San Diego Chamber Orchestra will open its 2008-2009 season Friday night, October 3, at St. Paul’s Cathedral downtown with a concert featuring the music of three generations of Mozarts as its Biotech Night. The concert will be repeated on Monday night, October 6, at the Sherwood Auditorium in La Jolla and on Tuesday night, October 7, at the Del Mar Country Club in Rancho Santa Fe.
All concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. The Del Mar Country Club will begin serving wine and hors d’oeuvres at 6:30 p.m.

This concert experience will be extraordinary in many ways: beautiful music - some relatively unknown - from Leopold (father), Wolfgang (son) and Franz Xaver Mozart (grandson); a short talk by Joe Beechem, Ph.D., Vice President of Research and Chief Technology Officer at Invitrogen Corporation, about the role of genes as they relate to musical talent; and the talent of pianist, Rosinna Grieco, a fourteen-year-old child prodigy.

The Orchestra, led by Artistic Director and Conductor Jung-Ho Pak, is composed of over 30 extraordinarily talented professional musicians who make special efforts to connect with their audiences in ways that are “beyond the norm” of most professional orchestras.

The concert repertoire:
Symphony in D major Leopold Mozart
Piano Concerto No. 2 Franz Xaver Mozart
Symphony No. 36 (Linz) Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Biotech Night Promotion

The Orchestra has announced a special promotion of a 10% discount for all employees of biotech companies to attend any of the three venues for this concert.
