Bunnell Strings: Keren, Kimberly, Corrie, Cara, Ross
Not long after they learned how to walk, Keren, Kimberly, Corrie, Cara, & Ross Bunnell each started learning violin through the Suzuki String Method. In fact, Ross started playing when he was just two years old! They’ve all continued to play strings and have found a niche in various instruments. Keren plays the viola, Kimberly the cello, Corrie and Cara have stuck with the violin and Ross prefers the bass. Each of them truly plays purely for the love of making music.
The Bunnells enjoy practicing and performing together, inspiring comparisons to the Von Trapp family from The Sound of Music. The middle sibling, Corrie, often composes and arranges pieces for the family to play. And, as older sister Kimberly admits, they like to play her pieces the best. The two songs the family will perform at Orchestra Nova’s Celebrating San Diego’s KPBS are both arranged by Corrie Bunnell.
This talented family has been performing professionally together for several years, making guest appearances for many local music societies and winning awards in various competitions. Special arrangements of countless classical and contemporary pieces have been written to highlight their unique style. In addition to their extensive quintet work, each of the siblings have been members of larger ensembles; sharing the concert stage with San Diego Youth Symphony, City Ballet of San Diego, and the Christian Community Theater. They are profoundly grateful for the support of their family and the many teachers who have guided them along this continuing journey.
