Beverly Lambert
Biography
Beverly Lambert began taking piano lessons from a farmer in her hometown of Densmore, Kansas, who had graduated from the Eastman School of Music, after practicing on a cardboard piano keyboard given to her by her third-grade teacher who noticed how much she wanted to learn how to play the old out-of-tune upright school piano. After graduating from Kansas State University with a Music Education degree, she taught vocal music for eight years, eventually earning an M.S. degree in Music Education.
However, her career took a different path when she decided to join IBM, eventually heading up a marketing team who managed all aspects of worldwide announcements of personal computers. She eventually left IBM, moving to Mill Valley, California, where she founded a software development company focused on Internet-based sales tools. After weathering the dot-com bust, Beverly decided to retire but was beckoned by a former IBM executive who had become involved with the San Diego Chamber Orchestra as an executive director to come help “kick off” their new artistic director and conductor.
Although she had sung solos and even directed church choirs during the intervening years, this was the first time she had ever been able to “marry” her music background with her marketing experience.
The rest is history. Now in her fifth year of working with Jung-Ho Pak, she is dedicated to helping implement Orchestra Nova’s vision of bringing joy and beauty to people of all ages and from all walks of life through an inspiring classical music experience.
