Each of the three finalists of The Next Star talent competition, selected from nine semi-finalists earlier this month by Internet voters and an Orchestra Nova panel, has their own unique dream but the one thing they share is a real passion for music.

Gorden Cheng, a Sony systems engineer, never lost his passion for playing the piano, continuing to practice three hours a day after work.

Hei-Ock Kim, a research assistant at Birch Aquarium, has a Masters degree in music from Juilliard and a D.M.A. from Catholic University of America, but her love for nature and the environment brought her to California.

Maria Lozano, a graduate student at SDSU, made a nine-hour trip by bus from Mexico every day for over a year to study voice at SDSU for a B.A. in music after spending three years studying engineering in Mexico.

Internet voting for the three finalists is in process now. Check out their videos and vote now!

They will each perform with Orchestra Nova on March 5, 6 and 8 where audience members will add their votes to those of Internet voters and the Orchestra Nova musicians to determine a winner. The winner will be announced on March 8 after the final concert. More concert information. Buy a ticket to the concert now!
