Gabriela Montero
Gabriela Montaro is a living genius, improvising on the piano in the style of the great masters as well as in her own unique voice. She's young, hip, and a great advocate for classical music as she intermixes other influences like jazz and pop. Many Americans first became aware of her when she appeared on CBS' 60 Minutes showcasing her improvisational talent. As if Gabriela isn't enough, this performance features the very best of America's own legendary genius, George Gershwin, his French postcard, American in Paris, and music from his beloved opera, Porgy and Bess. "For the Love of Music" Talk Show a Hit! Next Show Coming Soon!
In partnership with the Rancho Santa Fe Community Center, the San Diego Chamber Orchestra held their first program in the series, “For the Love of Music,” at The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe on Tuesday, February 12, to an enthusiastic audience. Hosted by Maestro Pak, the series is modeled after the format of the Bravo TV show, “Inside the Actors’ Studio.” The first guest for these “talk show” programs was Valerie Scher, San Diego Union-Tribune’s Classical Music Critic. The audience listened with fascination as the articulate Ms. Scher described what it’s like to be a music critic in today’s world of electronic media. The next program in the series is scheduled for April 8, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon at The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe. Jung-Ho Pak will host and the guest will be Avery Fischer award-winning violinist Jennifer Frautschi. For more information.
